Resumo

In this doctoral thesis, the stability of a representative electric power system with a high integration of PV systems under real demand scenarios was analyzed. First, a small signal stability analysis was carried out to compute the eigenvalues of the power system, which identify the critical modes of the system. The results of this analysis were then extended to carry out transient simulations of the electric power system when subjected to critical contingency situations. A model of a utility-scale PV unit was designed in the open MATLAB / Simulink programming environment with an embedded hybrid energy storage system. The main goal of this model is the simultaneous provision of primary frequency control and dynamic grid support. The primary frequency control includes both droop response (achieved by the frequency sensitive mode operation) and inertial response.
