Resum

Located in the province of Jaén, Sierra de Segura faces a demographic decline that is accompanied by a gradual reduction of the numerous population centres scattered throughout the territory that characterized the time of tradi- tional agricultural economy. In this work, we present the evolution of population and settlement together with the dynamics of land use, showing the gradual extensification of forestal uses and the uniformization of agricultural space that accompanies the demographic concentration in the nuclei of greater size and better road conexions.
