Two studies about how women perceive the relationships with men are presented. In the first study, exploratory and descriptive, a group of women was requested to indicated those daily situations in which they had been treated by virtue of their gender and not by their personal characteristics, as well as the reactions that such situations caused them. Afterward, another group of women evaluated the most representative situations mentioned. The results were analyzed from the perspective of the interpersonal-intergroup continuum. In a second study, using an experimental procedure, Psychology women students were rejected (or elected) for a male partner by virtue of their personal characteristics or by virtue of their belonginess to the gender group. Participants' reactions were analyzed. Responses were much more positive when women were elected that when they were rejected, and some differences also appeared by virtue of that the partner's behavior had an interpersonal or intergroup character (bigger acceptance or rejection in this second case). The results are discussed from the intergroup perspective and from the new conceptions about sexism.
