Resumen
During the academic year 2011/2012 the student was challenged with an autonomous learning of the laboratory practices in the subject "Analytical Chemistry for Industry" at the University of Granada. It was intended to promote the general competences established in Section 3.2 of Royal-Decree law 861 /2010, adapted to the degree in Chemical Engineering. Student works without direct teacher dependence, researches, synthesizes ideas, and presented orally, which provides better learning results. Many existing teaching programs could be developed for autonomous learning, and the only limit is the teacher's ability to design it properly. The assessment through surveys, it is essential to manage the quality of teaching and to encourage a culture of student guidance and continuous improvement. The results showed that almost 72 % of students found this methodology more interesting than the traditional one, evaluating it with a mark of 8.6 over 10. They also recognized the work done by the teacher positively. Regarding to the level of work requested to the students, 45% of students considered that they had more work than with the traditional methodology and 36 % of students evaluated that it was the same work as normal laboratory practices.
