Abstract
We present an assessment study of 302 secondary students’ understanding of the frequentist perspective of probability. We analyse their answers to a task where students are asked to estimate the frequency of a result in four different repetitions of the same experiment. The statistical analysis of the four estimations suggests a suitable perception of the expected value in contrast to the perception of variability. The results of the study also suggest the equiprobability bias and the representativeness heuristics, especially within the younger group.
