Abstract

There is a great lack of awareness about the daily limitations a hearing-impaired person has to deal with in order to participate in the noisy world around them. Proving the language acquisition problems these people have will provide knowledge about the difficulties in accessing information to comprehend concepts so abstract as the ones that sexuality deals with as well as dealing with any reading about the topic. Hearing-impaired people have a very simplistic and unbalanced knowledge about sexuality which increases their limitations and difficulties to live a healthy and responsible sexuality. Taking into account these premises, we outline the following general objectives: construct, validate and adapt two reliable questionnaires to the Spanish Sign Language in order to measure the knowledge, attitudes and sexual-affective behaviours in hearing- impaired adolescents and young people; and verify if these questionnaires predict the knowledge, attitudes and sexual- affective practices in adolescents and young people with hearing-impairment. To verify these objectives, we consider a cross section study with a qualitative focus. Regarding the measurement instruments used, two questionnaires have been constructed, adapted to the Sign Language and validated. The CUCONO-DA questionnaire (sexual-affective knowledge questionnaire for adolescents and young people with hearing-impairment), and the CAPSEXAS- DA questionnaire (sexual-affective attitudes and practices) have been used to determine the sexual-affective knowledge, attitudes and practices in adolescents and young people with hearing-impairment, with a total of 25 items. que nos han permitido construir, adaptados a la Lengua de Signos y validados, dos cuestionarios.
