Résumé

This thesis is a work of anthropological research into the phenomenon of prostitution in Castilla-La Mancha. The research shows the way in which prostitution is organised in this autonomous region, the sociodemographic characteristics of the women working in prostitution and the view the other players involved in prostitution, namely the clients and the brothel-keepers, have of this activity. The thesis also contains an analysis of the power relationships established between the different players involved, which can provide new insights in the area of prostitution. There is also an analysis of the social services and the public policies with regard to prostitution in Castilla-La Mancha, and a series of recommendations which, if applied, might improve the life of women working in prostitution
