Abstract

Economical specialization, which has been carried out for centuries, is the origin of different monocultures located currently throughout the whole planet. In this regard, olive grove of the province of Jaén could be judged as one of the most representative examples in Europe. A cultivation that spreads nowadays for almost all the farming provincial lands and in the Campiña de Jaén's ones -a region inside this province-. Nevertheless, this formation has been relatively recent and carried out in different phases, according to the overcoming of distinct agricultural change processes. An evolution that has given heterogeneous olive groves, as a result. Throughout cartography, has been possible to rebuild this progress, observe differences inside this monoculture and, finally, to show paths that could be used to advance in a close future, in order to improve its situation in an environmental, economical or social way.
