Résumé

We here presentthe first paleoseismic data of the Baza Fault Zone (central Betic Cordillera, Spain). We carried out a geomorpholic and stratigrpahic analysis of the units located near to the fault. After that, we selected three sites where we excavated up to five paleoseismic trenches. We discuss trenches logs in terms of paleoseismic events. These data together with numeric dates permit us to estimate a recurrence interval of 5661-8990 years for surface rupturing events occurred in the Baza Fault Zone for the last 42 ky.
