Abstract

Introduction: Assertiveness is defined as the set of behaviors emitted by a person in an interpersonal context, based on the expression of feelings, attitudes, wishes, opinions or rights of that person in a direct, firm and honest way, respecting the same other people's time. Aim: The objective of the present study was to analyze the effect of a CHIIT training program on assertiveness levels in adolescents. Method: This is a longitudinal quantitative study, in which the sample consisted of 111 adolescents, with an experimental group (GE n = 65) and control group (GC n = 46). Assertiveness was measured with the test published in the book "Make your voice heard without screaming" by Shelton and Burton. The GE underwent 20 minutes of CHIIT with monitored intensity during the 2 weekly sessions of EF. While the GC continued with its normal classes taught by its Physical Education teacher. As analysis, repeated measures ANOVA 2 (Group) X 2 (Time) of the general linear model was used. Results & discussion: Our results showed that there were no significant differences in assertiveness after the CHIIT program. Perhaps games of a more socializing and group decision-making nature were necessary to work this variable more specifically. Conclusions: It is concluded that this CHIIT program does not improve the assertiveness of adolescents. Therefore, it is suggested that the program intervention time and / or stimulus may not be adequate.
