Resumen
This work aims to analyze the influence of media on public opinion and its relationship with public education policies. Methods: Discourse analysis of the major Spanish newspapers on the results achieved by Spain in PISA. Results: reveals that most of the news adopt an alarmist tone and are mainly based on the ranking. This news spread an overly negative picture of the current Spanish educational system. Conclusions: These reports help to legitimize the PISA and influencing decisions regarding educational policies.
