Résumé

Microdata from the Spanish National Health Survey (ENSE) and mortality data from the Spanish Vital Statistics (Movimiento Natural de la Población MNP-) are utilized to analyze the relationship between self-rated health and objective health conditions among Spanish adults (population aged 16+). Results display that self-rated health responds adequately to health changes over the life course in adulthood as well as to their differentials by sex until about age 50. However, subjective and objective health show an increasing divergence in population older than 50. Discrepancies between self-rated and objective health status indicators are conveniently discussed.
