Abstract

Introduction: the aging of the population is a fact that entails changes that affect the current society. This increase favors an increase in the number of falls in the elderly. Material and methods: the objective of this systematic review is to identify and analyze the effectiveness of physical exercise programs for the prevention of falls in people over 65 years of age. This review has been based on the collection of studies from 2008 to 2018 that evaluated the effects of physical exercise programs aimed at reducing falls in older people. The databases used for the review were PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus and Web of Science. From this search a total of 19 experimental studies were obtained. Results: the results show a positive relationship between the people who perform these exercise programs and their improvement in balance, strength, and walk.
