Abstract
Adolescents’ motivation towards physical activity (FA) is a problem that ends up being sedentary and the result will be a society with few habits towards healthy living and daily activity. In secondary school, it is especially necessary to investigate the factors that can influence students to achieve positive motivation in this subject. Sedentary lifestyle has been identified as a risk factor in the development of chronic diseases, obesity, type II diabetes or various cardiovascular diseases (Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee, 2008; Sallis and Owen, 1999). Health officials and experts from different countries consider the promotion of physical activity among young people as a priority public health objective (Welk, Eisenmann and Dollman, 2006). Recent research has forgotten that adolescents while in the classroom may also feel competent or successful in domains other than academic (Urdan and Maehr, 1995). Teachers constitute a key piece, not only acting through their professional competences but also in function of their social and educational work, their thinking about teaching, and the role that PE should play in the school context
