Abstract
Objective: To explore the journalistic treatment of the Violence Against Women in the International Day of Violence Against Women of 2010 in the newspaper El País, ABC and El Mundo. Methods: Qualitative content analysis of 27 news items in the International Day of the Violence against Women. We analyzed all the news. Results: There are many concepts to refer to the Violence against Women many misunderstandings. The woman named as victim and man as the perpetrator. The most frequently mentioned act Violence against Women is death, but they appear to psychological abuse or humiliation. The best solution proposed is to "report" in addition to multi-disciplinary measures, but little emphasis on health. Conclusions: Without consensus in the name of the Violence against Women does dissolve the problem. The woman is depicted as a "victim" so that discrimination and man as the culprit. The news talk about death, but even slightly aware that there are more ways. As health is not included in solutions not represented as a public health problem.
