Abstract

Directive 91/271/EEC aims to protect the environment from negative effects of urban effluent discharges and certain industrial sectors The objective of this research is to check the compliance in the province of Jaén of the obligations on urban wastewater purification established by the community legislation and to analyze the municipal ordinances that regulate water purification rates applied in the different municipalities of the province. The results of this work are intended to help the responsible for local corporations, in charge of designing the tax instruments on wastewater conditioning the natural water environment.
