Resumen

Child-to parent violence is a type of violent juvenile behaviour that hasrisen in the latest years, becoming in a social problem and generating great concern among researchers, professionals and general society. However, studies on this issue provide varied data about the prevalence of this phenomenon. This could be due to the different assessment instruments used. The current study was aimed to elaborate an instrument to assess child-to-parent violence and to inform about its psychometric properties. The sample was composed by 254 undergraduate students from the University of Jaén (a province in the south of Spain) and from the University of Oviedo (a province in the north of Spain), aged between 18 and 25 years. And ad hoc instrument to assess child-to-parent violence with 28 parallel items (for the mother and for the father) was designed. A matrix of 4 factors with a total of 19 parallel items was identified, after deleting 9 items. Reliability indexes for the mother and the father items were appropriate. Consequently, the C-VIFIP questionnaire is proposed as an appropriate instrument to assess child-toparent violence.
