Resumen

The Bajo Segura Basin, one of the areas more seismically active in the Iberian Peninsula, is characterized by a compressive stress field showing a maximum horizontal axis trending between NNW-SE and N-S. Aiming to quantify the present deformation rates in this basin and to define its more active sectors from a seismotectonic point of view, we have performed a CPS network with eleven control points. Several stations o f the National Geographical Institute Network were employed, and where these did not cover the areas of interest, new monitoring points were established. The first campaign has been done from 7th to 12th June 1999. The CPS constellation was tracked for eight hours session's windows over baselines ranging from 11 km to 59.4 km. The equipment used consisted of three Leica SR399 and two Leica SR9500 dual frequency carried phase receivers. Bernesse 4.0 with precise ephemerides was used to process the GPS observations and NETGPS software for the adjustment o f the network.
