Abstract

The Majalcorôn Formation (Danian-Lower Selandian) is defined as a formal lithostratigraphic unit belonging to the Palaeocene of the Subbetic, a palaeogeographic domain in the Southern Iberian eontinental margin. This formation is mainly made up of ealcarenites with Mieroeodium. In the holostratotype, parastratotype and different outcrops, the facies and mierofacies, the sedimentary structures (mainly hummocky cross-stratification) and their peculiar stratigraphic location, between pelagic facies, are described.
