Resumen
Introduction: the objectives that have been proposed in this paper have been, to evaluate the usefulness of the work of mobilizing the posterior nerve chain, with guided exercises easy to apply, for the maintenance and improvement of balance, flexibility, hamstring and perception pain in the elderly. Materials and methods: this study was carried out on two groups of elderly people who habitually performed physical exercise. A set of exercises designed to stimulate the posterior nerve chain following daily physical activity was introduced. These exercises consisted of combined nerve tensing and sliding. Results: the goal of our study was an improvement in the perception of referred pain in the back as well as in the legs and an increased quality of life based on the Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire, the Visual Analogue Scale, flexibility and balance. Conclusions: following an analyses of the data it was concluded that there were no significant differences between the two groups, although there was an improvement in the test group with respect to the control group. We believe that further studies should be carried out in order to ascertain whether or not the differences are significant.
