Abstract
Culture-related economic activity accounts for more than 2.4% Spain’s GDP. Specifically, according to the 2017 Spanish Cultural Statistical Yearbook, cultural tourism is the motivation for 16,8% and more than 12% of the 2016 total trips made in Spain by domestic and foreign tourists, respectively. Valuation of Cultural Heritage that are visited by tourists involves using, among others, direct methods that consider the preferences of the potential demanders. The aim of this research is twofold: first, describing the socio-economic profile of the tourists who come to Jaén, and second, to quantitatively assess using the contingent valuation method the willingness to pay for the services offered by an Interpretation Centre of the Cultural Heritage.
