Abstract
The use of specific and adequate physical activity programs and simulated tasks have a positive impact on the career of the firefighter. The objectives of this work has been to evaluate and analyze the characteristics of physical effort by a group of firefighters in the course of two drills. 13 firefighters have participated with a mean age, mass and size: 38.5 ± 4.6 years, 76.43 ± 9.95 kg and 1.75 ± 0.07 m. There have been two drills consisting of: a) 2 ups and 2 downs by the interior staircase to a tower of 4 floors with an added burden of 2 extinguishers, b) 1 up and 1 down the front with a staircase to a tower 4 floors. We analyzed heart rate (HR), blood lactate concentration, the time spent and the added mass, besides the air used in the drill 1. During the simulated elevations in HR and blood lactate concentration. The situations that require more complex implementation lead to slight increases in the variables analyzed.
