¿Es el liderazgo transformacional un predictor de la inteligencia emocional grupal en los contextos laborales?

Resumen

La capacidad de contagiar emociones es una característica de los líderes transformacionales ampliamente aceptada. Sin embargo, el impacto que pueden causar en la inteligencia emocional de sus subordinados es un aspecto poco explorado. En este artículo, analizamos si el Liderazgo Transformacional (LTF) percibido ejerce alguna influencia sobre la Inteligencia Emocional Grupal (IEG). Este es un planteamiento novedoso en el contexto del interés actual sobre la inteligencia emocional y su papel en los resultados grupales. En el estudio participaron 272 subordinados de 52 grupos pertenecientes a distintas organizaciones públicas y privadas de España. Estos completaron un cuestionario que incluía diversas variables de interés. Nuestro estudio ayuda a esclarecer las relaciones entre la percepción de LTF y la IEG, y demuestra que el LTF y la IEG mantienen una relación a nivel grupal y que el LTF es uno de los predictores de la percepción de IEG en los entornos laborales. Por tanto, el desarrollo de líderes transformacionales emocionalmente competentes producirá grupos emocionalmente competentes que podrían mejorar su rendimiento, su efectividad y otros procesos relacionados (e.g., su compromiso).
