Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the perception that teachers had about their students in both positive psychological dimensions (emotional intelligence, self-esteem) and negative (aggression,) and test the level of students' emotional intelli-gence influenced the perception of teachers. We found a relationship between teacher perceptions of students and the above variables, and that attention to emotions (emotional intelligence dimension) of the students has a high predictive power on the evaluation that the teacher has about his/her students. Finally, we conclude that there is an effect of teacher expectations based on the student's emotional intelligence (or Pygmalion effect).
