Resum
This article considers the reception and application of international human rights standards in the Arab States. They have a variety of political and social models, but we can find common features in their legal systems that differentiate them from the legal systems of Western countries and explain their position with respect to human rights. The influence of Islam, the existence of different legal currents in their internal law, as well as the political pressure and the markedly dualist nature of the legal orders, explain among other things the relativism of those States, when it comes to the conceptualisation of human rights in Arab societies, which often diverges from the universal concept.
