Abstract
This paper illustrates techniques to foster the comprehension of written texts in a creative way, at the same time developing other related skills. In order to do this, the psycholinguistic theory that explains the reading process is reviewed. Then this process is considered from the foreign language point of view. Third, the current methodology for exploiting reading texts is explained, enumerating a series of criteria and stages that constitute the framework for developing both comprehension skills and creativity. An English text is used as example. Two further examples are developed, taking into account the distinctive features of each text
