Abstract
Cancer pain is a global pain that influences all personal dimensions: physical, psychological, social and laboural. Our aim must be an urgent and complete treatment of the pain. For this reason, different treatments against cancer pain are being researched, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and drug therapy are the main ones, but there are many others, included or not in the list of treatments established by the WHO. It is revised history, epidemiology, therapeutic strategies, aims and barriers of pain cancer and the sanitary problems associated. It is analyzed the side effects and the knowledge of the new drugs: cannabis, psychoactive drugs etc, and it is exposed future ways for the oncological pain control
