Résumé
In this study a scale to measure "Culture of Honor" is proposed. This concept, which was first developed in Anthropology and then adopted by Social Psychology, intends to explain the differences among groups in cultural norms that base the violence acts over some social groups, e.g. women, on honor and the maintenance of social order and predominance of a group over another. However, to date there is no scale to directly measure the extent to which this concept is important for an individual. Even more, current analyses are based on attitudinal studies about violence and experiments on reactions to offenses. Using analyses of items, exploratory factor analyses and reliability of the instrument, we obtained a final scale consisting of 17 items which conform three factors that measure individual importance given to culture of honor.
