Abstract
A revision of ash-tree woods of Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl. subsp. angustifolia in southern and western Iberian Peninsula is made, commenting on their most relevant ecological, biogeographical, bioclimatical and geosinphytosociological factors. We propose the new association Nerio-Populetum albae García Fuentes et Cano nova and its variation with Fraxinus angustifolia. We also propose the subassociation Ficario ranunculoidis-Fraxinetum angustifoliae Rivas-Martínez et Costa in Rivas-Martínez, Costa, Castroviejo et Valdés-Bermejo 1980 quercetosum broteroi Pinto Gomes et Cano nova and a community of Salix eleagnos subsp. angustifolia and Fraxinus angustifolia. Finally, a synthetic table to compare the different communities is given.
