Abstract

PREPONDERANCE OF THE HUNTING ACTIVITY IN THE REGIONAL PARK OF THE SIERRA OF ANDÚJAR (COMMUNITY OF ANDALUSIA, SPAIN). The 'Sierra de Andújar' Nature Reserve (province of Jaén) was founded in 1989 and it is characterised, amongst other thing, by its high percentage of superficie publicly owned mountainous terrain, by its sparse human population and biodiversity: it is the home of some of Iberia's most emblematic fauna. In this paper we will look at the origin and the running of the reserve through diverse ground control methods. We will later explore the ways in which these different methods are sustainable. We will pay special attention to the importance of hunting and how it can achieve this.
