Resumen

We show a work about the Guadalquivir valley that has been made using the phytosociological methodology and considering the present bibliography about climatology, bioclimatology, geology and pedology. Together with all this information we have also carried out an exhaustive field sampling to make a biogeographical study about the Hispalense sector (Betica province). The data we have obtained making field inventories point out the existence of plant communities with peculiar characters. Geology and pedology show that the territories located in a parallel band to the Guadalquivir fault are materials that stem from the Trias geological period. These substrata are mainly red sandstones that cause nearly neutral or slightly basic soils (6.5-7.5 pH). We find important floristic and syntaxonomic differences between these places and adjacent to Subbetic ranges zones.
