Abstract

This study is a consequence of a Teaching Innovation Project from the University of Jaén. Its aim is the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) of the teaching materials used in some degrees of our Social Sciences and Law Faculty. In particular, the generic competence developed in our project is the knowledge of a foreign language. The use in our lessons of materials in a non-Spanish language eases the student international mobility. Furthermore, it could represent a previous step for the accreditation of the B1 level (CEFR) in a second language, required by our University before obtaining the Bachelor. This activity represents a fundamental complement to the traditional education in order to get an integral training to ensure a successful career. In view of the results obtained, we conclude that our students (in comparison with those from others universities) presents linguistic difficulties. In this context, we believe that it is necessary more implication from teachers and universities to achieve this goal.
