Resumo

In recent years, electric vehicles (EVs) are being positioned as a low-emission technology. This technology can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition, the EVs can help to manage the grid and optimize available resources. On the other hand, the price of EVs is been reducing and its range and performance are improving. Therefore, it is easy to forecast a substantial increase in the use of EVs during next years. The future development of EVs involves the use of a large number and types of chargers. The home charger will be used widely. This charger has different characteristics of public chargers. Currently, home chargers are expensive and only have basic functions. Furthermore, due to its architecture, it will be difficult to adapt to future standards and the needs and / or likes of customer The home charger presented in this paper is designed using a new electronic architecture based on low-cost microprocessors and open source. This charger can add new features and can suit: the future standard, the likes of the users and the technological advances. In addition, this domestic charger is low-cost and manageable by smartphone apps. The charger implements load 3 mode (UNE 61851), therefore, the charger is fixed and it is permanently connected to home electric grid. The charger uses the pilot function to communicate with the EVs.
