Abstract
Spain is one of the economies of the world that presents a higher immigration density. The population with foreign nationality and place of residence in the country has maintained a high rate of growth during the decade 2000, representing in 2012 more than 12 per cent of the total. The aim of this paper is to study the migratory process that has characterized the recent past of the Spanish economy and, according to the analyzed theoretical arguments, to research the factors that determine it and which can determine its link to the evolution of the economic cycle.
