Abstract

This work studies the novel Pequeñeces, of the Spanish writer Luis Coloma (1851-1915), from different perspectives. Masonic arguments are examined for biographical reflections present in certain episodes of the work. It explores the Jesuit vocation of the Jerez novelist and brings to light the ambiguous language that Coloma uses when describing performances of Masonic characters or when censors. The author demonstrates in his narrative a remarkable knowledge of the masonic lodges, knowledge that is not acquired only by hearing and that evidences an approach to the Freemasonry, greater than the specialized criticism usually adjudges to him.
