Resumen

This thesis presents an extensive review of causes, consequences and treatment operation in fault conditions of a PV generator, due to partial shading or electrical fault. The operation in these fault conditions poses a threat of overcurrent in the PV system, and can cause power quality problems in the network to which it is connected. Thus, it makes a normative study on electrical faults and power quality finding that no specific reference PV systems standards in both fields. One of the objectives achieved is the presentation of a proposal for overcurrent protection measures for a PV generator under fault conditions. Thus, we develop a dynamic simulation model of PV device (cell, module or generator) in Matlab/Simulink® to investigate the behavior of PV devices when operating under abnormal conditions, validating with experimental measurements on actual PV generator.
