Abstract
Plants undergo several developmental phases during their life cycle, Transitions between phases are well known in herbaceous, conversely to what happens in woody plants, where their lower growth rate and amplitude of the phases, hinder their study, In the current work, we have centered on the juvenile to adult transition, in which the tree achieves the competence to reproduction and we have focused in the roots, which role seems to be crucial in the transltion. JAT gene characterization revealed the existence of a JAT gene family, in which have been described three paralogs differentially expressed. JA T gene location seems to be associated to the vascular system and tissues with active growth. The transcriptomic analysis of differential gene expression between juvenile and adult roots identified 16 unigenes directly or indirectly related to the íransiíion. It has also been developed a complete transcriptome of olive roots in order to respond to several biotic and abiotic stress situations
