This PhD Thesis deals with the complete study of groundwaters and aquifer materials surrounding four active faults zones in the eastern part of Betic Cordillera (SE Spain): Palomares-Carboneras Faults Zone (PCFZ), Tíscar-Larva Faults Zone (TLFZ), Torreperogil-Sabiote Faults Zone (TSFZ) and Baza-Galera Faults Zone (BGFZ). The results obtained in the course of this Thesis, after the periodic study of physico-chemical parameters of the selected 104 groundwater samples, together with the investigation of clays in faults planes near to these waters, can reveal in these four active faults zones the presence of possible aquifers points with deep circulation and probably influenced by the seismic activity of major faults zones and developing fluctuations in composition after major seismic events.
