This thesis analyzes the density and the population size fluctuations of two deer species in Mediterranean ecosystems during almost two decades. The main objective is to assess the relative effect of hunting, climate and density on the population size fluctuations of two species sympatric deer, red deer (Cervus elaphus hispanicus) and fallow deer (Dama dama). All this focused on obtaining applied information to hunting management in conditions of overabundance, such as carrying capacity information and efficiency of selective hunting in population control in Mediterranean deer. This study for the first time in this area, the hunting efficiency considering the climate and the possible effects of density-dependence at the same time.
