Abstract

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is one of the most frequent in adolescence and causes severe negative consequences in people who suffer from it. In addition, comorbidity in this disorder is more a norm than an exception, although there is a need to study the impact of the co-occurrence of other disorders in adolescents with TUES. Along with this, the recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) has added the action specifier for those cases where fear is restricted to situations of social action. Currently, there is a shortage of research that analyzes the impact of the specifier on adolescents. This doctoral thesis aims to cover both aspects. In addition to evaluating the effect of the IAFS intervention not only in anxious and depressive symptomatology, but in quality of life and transdiagnostic elements such as perfectionism. Our results show that those who present the specifier have a milder symptomatology than those with TAS without the specifier. Likewise, the data reveal a more serious symptomatology in those adolescents with comorbid disorders. Finally, it is observed that the adolescents who received the intervention improve not only in anxious and depressive symptomatology, but also in quality of life (physical well-being, school environment and social relationships) and perfectionism (particularly, fear of making mistakes).
