Abstract

This paper analyzes, in the light of multilevel governance, the path taken by one of the european public policies - the policy of sustainable development - from its formulation at the community level to its effective implementation at the levels of government in charge of doing so., in Spain. The objective of the multidisciplinary research is to detect and explain if there is adequate coordination between the different levels of government involved and a balanced distribution of competences and responsibilities among them, as well as a possible alteration of the faculties of the entities involved in the decision-making process and in the implementation phase of them.
