Résumé

Perineal repair can cause significant long-term maternal morbidity. The aim was to Know the influence of two suturing techniques. A controlled, multicentre, randomised, blinded clinical trial of the participants, between 2016-2018, has been carried out in 5 hospitals in Andalusia in primiparas with episiotomy ora second degree tear. Seventy women participated in the continuous suture group, and 64 in the discontinuous suture group. Women in the continuous suture group showed less pain than those in the discontinuous suture group, both at 24 hours, 15 days, and 3 months after delivery, and had less need for analgesia at 24 hours. They afso had a lower incidence of bladder and bowel incontinence at 15 days and restarted sex earlier. Continuous suturing produces less pain and sexuality is normalised sooner.
