Abstract

Adolescence can be a period of crucial importance for health and future well-being due to the large number of changes that take place at the cognitive, physical and psychological level. Physical inactivity and the establishment of healthy eating habits are the main modifiable factors that determine both physical and mental illness. The overall objective of this Thesis was to study the relationship between healthy lifestyles, self-esteem and quality of life related with health in schoolchildren. The results of the present work highlight the positive relationship between physical activity and adherence to the Mediterranean diet and different health parameters, both physical and mental, in children and adolescents. The findings identify that emphasis should be placed on developing interventions to improve and mental health in schoolchildren.
