Valoración del pronóstico en amputados de miembros inferiores tras su protetizaciónincidencia de complicaciones y factores asociados

Zusammenfassung

Lower limb mayor amputation represents a health issue with a great sociosanitary impact. A longitudinal retrospective study was performed in this study PhD thesis (2000-2014) to identify predictors of successful or failed prosthetic rehabilitation according two different criteria: the ability to walk regardless the use of walking aids (number 1) and taking into account assistive walking devices. As for the first criteria, tibial level of amputation and male gender were predictors of successful and failed prosthetic rehabilitation respectively. Regarding criteria 2, a higher number of comorbidities as well as an age over 65 years were predictive factors of failure in prosthetic rehabilitation, which was also individually associated with a greater time until the start of rehabilitation. These results may be of great value to establish guidelines by means of communication and coordination between all health professionals involved in this process.
