Abstract

This research studies the women representation in a pre-Modern Age. These women images have been observed through medieval literature texts. Especially, it has been selected The Book of Good Love, by Juan Ruiz Archispreste de Hita, as a relevant analysing source to know the vision of the women. Moreover, it tries to compare them with other female literary representations which emerged in the Iberian Peninsula and in other nearthy societes. It has been considered that the sociological interpretation of the literary speech can be an adequate instrument of social knowledge of the female roles and atributions in the past. This colective imaginary about the female identities that is part of the culture, influences in the Western thinking configuration and determines the way of valuing women socially.
