Résumé

The recent archaeological excavation campaigns (Area 6 and Area 9) in Giribaile (Vilches, Jaén) have allowed the characterization of power models related to the Iberian social formation, through different ritual and symbolic expressions, such as the cave-sanctuary and the funerary monument of the lower platform. The archaeological surveys (Area 1) have projected the interpretation of power to its economic exploited territory. As main contributions could be including a proposal to identify the municipium Flavium Baesucci with the archaeological remains of an urban settlement in Santagón landscape and a cadastral restitution. In addition, it has been possible to expand the borders of the Giribaile territory up to the right side of the Guadalén river and to improve the functional characterization of these settlements. Methodologically, this PhD takes up the challenge of improving the quality of the archaeological record and the intensive archaeological survey. Finally, this study shows a strategy of public, citizen and participatory archaeology.
