Zusammenfassung
The objective is to examine if Behavioral Inhibition predicts the development of anxiety disorders. In addition, intellectual, maturational, socio-emotional and behavioral adjustment in children Behavioral Inhibition and Social Anxiety Disorder characteristics are explored. For this, a longitudinal study of 73 children between 6 and 8 years was conducted. The children completed the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test and the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities. Parents and teachers completed the Magallanes Scales for Behavioral Problems (EACP), the Child Behavior Checklist and the Behavior Assessment System for Children. Children and parents the Anxiety Disorders Interview Schedule for Children and Parents. The results show that children identified as inhibited between 4 and 6 years develop an anxiety disorder and particularly, Social Anxiety Disorder. Findings show a worse socio-emotional and behavioral adaptation without intellectual or maturational differences.
