Abstract

Nanocomposites are new advanced material s in which a matrix , organic, metal or ceramic, is combined with a nanometric reinforcement of different nature, whether nanolaminate , nanofibrous or nanospherical. In this PhD Thesis, the material selected as matrix is polyamide 66 (PA66). Organophilized sepiolite was used as inorganic reinforcing . Nanocomposites were manufactured via melt intercalation using an extruder. Different weight percentages of sepiolite are: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9%. Studies on mechanical , therm al and crystallographic properties, new crystal structure of the nanocomposite, dispersion of sepiolite within the matrix and properti es after different oxidative degradation processes have been carried out in this PhD Thesis.
