Abstract

The Doctoral Thesis studies the classic economic thought diffusion in the Chair of Political Economy of Granada University between 1807 and 1842. The work begins by analyzing what works of the classical economists were translated into Castilian for the limited period. In particular, the translations of the work of Jean-Baptiste Say, who was the classical economist preferred in Spain during the first third of the nineteenth century. Specifically, we contrast the hypothesis that his model was the predominant in the economic thought spread from this chair. On the other hand, this study shows the process of institutionalization of the teaching of the Economy from the creation of the Chair of Political Economy in the Faculty of Laws of Spanish universities in 1807 until the founding of the first Faculty of Economics in our country in 1943. In addition, it offers the list of professors of Economy for this period.
