Abstract

In Europe, The Modern State was widely established as a consequence of the convulsions in the 15111 and 16111 centuries und er continua! wars: times when we find the armies as pr iv i leged instrument s for the development of The State. To understand and explain the mili tary system elaboration process in Modern Spain, we believe necessary to depart from the 15111 century and the Catholic Monarchs, respon sible for the creation of a permanent army. It i s in the Military lnstitution where nowadays we find remaining traces from the past which are uninterruptedl y interre lated since The Middle Ages. For that, The State as a who l e had to articu late, wi th the passage of time and with the examp le of hermen eutics defined by the historical experience , a mode l for the Government of the Army inside The State; model which, for the defending of the territory and for the imperia l and colonia l expansion, was a key el ement contributing to the consolidation of the Monarchy as a Form of Government.
